A Love Triangle & a Finale: An Interview with Rachelle Rea

As the countdown until the release of Book Three continues (ONLY 10 MORE DAYS, PEOPLE!), the question looms:
Who will in the end hold Gwyn’s heart? The rebel who saved her life or the man who’s known her all her life?

Today I'm pleased to host Rachelle Rea, dear friend and author of this epic romantic trilogy for a conversation and peek into the process and some little-known trilogy, too. Bonus? We get to hear from the man I may or may not be responsible for having a voice/deeper storyline than Rachelle had originally planned, and a love triangle of sorts was born.
MG: Do you have a favorite of your three books?
RR: Whichever one is coming out next. I loved Diamonds to death, until Silver came out and suddenly stole my heart anew. Now I cannot WAIT to share with the world the finale, the end to the saga, all that happens in Emeralds.
MG: What's the biggest thing you hope readers take away from reading your trilogy?
RR: Hold to hope, friends. It's hard and painful and doesn't always seem worth it, but it is. It IS.
MG: Give us a glimpse into the process from contract to holding this, your final book in your hands. Did you have times of wanting to tear your hair out? Most surreal part of the journey? Any surprises sprung on you in the writing or editing of your books?
RR: It's been such a process, such a journey! I've enjoyed it, but I've definitely had moments when characters weren't behaving, my computer wasn't behaving, I wasn't behaving, LOL. The editing process surprised me most, I think. I (pridefully) thought my books were pretty good. Then I realized they were pretty rough. Now I'm happy to say they're pretty polished, all because of the amazing WhiteFire editing team. Working with WhiteFire has been the best happy surprise. I feel like I have such a team behind me.
MG: Lastly, give us a teaser of what the future holds for you! Even though "bestie privileges" for me means I already know. ;)
RR: More books, I hope. ;) I have a Secret Project I'm working on and hope to share more about in time.

Read on for a special bonus question to Anders Revelin himself and more about the exciting conclusion to The Steadfast Love series, The Sound of Emeralds.

Anders has known Gwyn all his life. He knows her best. So when she returns from the Dutch Low Countries and sends for him, he is baffled to find she needs his help–to help clear Dirk’s name. Who is this Dirk, and how he has stolen Gwyn’s heart? When Anders never got the chance to tell Gwyn how he feels?
Will Anders fight for Gwyn? Will he ever tell her his heart is hers?

Question for Anders: What about your past has led you to here, feeling the way you do about Gwyn?

She's light and life and breath to me. When she sang when I first met her, when we were both children, her voice tethered my soul to hers. That was it. I was hers. She calls; I come. That is how it has always been and how it always will be...

My review coming soon
What once was blazing hatred has turned to lasting love, but could the union of a wild heart with that of a lady ever result in more than heartache?

With the help of an old friend with uncertain loyalties, Dirk inches ever closer to clearing his name. Gwyneth throws her faith into good tidings and the promise of a future as a family. But an old evil comes to call, just as tragedy rips apart a fledgling truce. Enemies from the past and grief for the future threaten to tear asunder what God had brought together…
As the date of Dirk’s trial approaches, his fate and his family hang in the balance. Will he be proven innocent of Gwyneth’s parents’ murders—or separated from her forever? How much pain does it take to erode a love steadfast?

Times gone by snatch Rachelle close, so she reads and writes about years long ago--her passions include the Reformation, Revolutions, and romance. During college, Rachelle wrote the Steadfast Love series. Five months after she graduated, she signed a three-book deal with her dream publisher, WhiteFire. She's a homeschool grad, Oreo addict, and plots her novels while driving around her dream car, a pick-up truck.

Words, history, and grace color my days here in The Burgh where I seek out the perfect coffee and red lipstick.

  1. Thank you so much for featuring me, Meghan! You're the best. And since you're the one who first inspired me to look more closely at Anders, I give you full credit ;)

  2. well, that just wasn't nearly enough of a teaser for what's to come. Meghan, can you be bribed? ;)

Pull up a chair, grab a cup of something hot or cold to drink, and enjoy. I love making new friends!
